To Color? or not to Color? Some thoughts

There are many more examples I could show you, but I think that will do for now. Now the other side of the coin - when color should not be used.

A zebra is black and white to start with (ok, probably shades of dirt too, nature being what it is). I could have shown conture shading with this, but I wanted to make it an almost abstract, very stark pattern that yelled "ZEBRA!"

Another one that needed to be left alone was this beautiful and powerful picture of a dark horse.

So plan carefully. If you are going to be scratching a subject that in life is brightly colored, consider adding color to your scratchboard and make it come to life!
