Demonstration - Scratchboard Cat

Tools used:

• Clayboard black by Ampersand, 5" x 7" (any scratchboard would do)
• Paper, pencil and white coloured pencil
• Craft knife with several blades
• Ampersand Clayboard Inks

Step 1

First I make a rough drawing of the subject on a piece of computer paper. As long as I get the outline, the placement of the eyes, nose and mouth right, I'm happy.

Step 2 Then I scribble on the back of the computer paper with the white coloring in pencil and tranfer it to my black clayboard using a sharp mechanical pencil. (The white dots on the picture are from my scanner and aren't on the black clayboard)
